Game of Thrones Season Rankings: Best to Worst

What Are The Best Game Of Thrones Seasons

Winter has come and gone and with it the final season of Game of Thrones. GOT has been one of the most popular television shows in recent memory, and people still have strong opinions about which seasons are the best and worst.

This blog post will rank every season of Game of Thrones from best to worst.

Game of Thrones Season Rankings

Game of Thrones Season 4

The best season of Game of Thrones is undoubtedly Season Four. This season gave us the Battle of the Blackwater, Tyrion’s trial, and the wedding scene between Joffrey and Margaery.

It also had robust character development for Arya, Sansa, and Jaime. There are very few negative things to say about this season, which is why it sits at the top of our list.

Game of Thrones Season 2

Season Two is also excellent, but it doesn’t quite reach the heights of Season Four. This season introduced many important characters like Melisandre and Stannis Baratheon, and we got to see more of Dorne and its people.

The Battle of Blackwater Bay is also one of the best scenes in the entire series. However, a few weak episodes towards the end of the season drag it down slightly.

Game of Thrones Season 1

Season One is pretty good overall. It introduces all of the main characters and sets up the story, but there isn’t much action until later on in the season.

There was a lot of controversy around the death of Ned Stark, who was the main character and one of the most prominent named actors starring in the show. Additionally, some scenes with Daenerys Targaryen were difficult for viewers to stomach.

Game of Thrones Season 3

Season three is outstanding, but it has some problems. Season 3 is when things start to heat up in terms of the war between the different factions, and we get some great battles like the Battle of Whispering Wood and Jon Snow’s fight against the wildlings.

However, this is also the season where Dany’s storyline feels a bit repetitive, and there are one or two filler episodes. Nonetheless, this is still a strong season overall.

Game of Thrones Season 5

Season Five is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, it contains some of the best episodes of the entire series, like the Battle of Hardhome and Cersei’s walk of shame.

On the other hand, it has some very weak episodes, including Dany’s entire storyline in Meereen. This season also suffers from a lack of focus, as several different storylines are happening at once.

Game of Thrones Season 6

Finally, we have Season Six. Season 6 improved over Season Five, as it had a more focused plot and better pacing. However, it still wasn’t perfect.

The Battle of the Bastards was excellent, but many people felt that the show jumped the shark a bit with Jon Snow’s resurrection. Additionally, this season, Dany’s story arc was very slow and not particularly interesting.

Game of Thrones Season 7

Season seven of game of thrones is where things went downhill for this beloved show. Season 7 introduced fast travel and the intellectual blunting of fan-favorite Tyrion, and the dialogue had been spot on through most of the series until now. In other words, lazy writing took over, and the writers threw logic out the window.

Before season seven, every character had some fantastic scenes. But after season six, every character made irritating decisions and looked like they didn’t know what they were doing. Pretty much everything was out of place and disorganized.

Game of Thrones Season 8

If it seems like the game of thrones seasons are ranked best to worst in nearly the same order they came out, it’s unfortunate because that’s how the writing played out. GOT season eight was terrible, and I mean bad. It’s hard to know where to start.

The long night was dismally dark and had characters wearing godlike plot armor. The dynamic battlefield tactics of previous seasons were gone, and instead, we got one-sided victories that made no sense. It’s like the writers wrote. First, Winterfell gets destroyed, then the night king gets wasted, and finally, King’s Landing gets destroyed.

On top of all that, we got to watch Jon Snow kill Daenerys Targaryen. A lot of fans are still feeling the sting of that one.
