Apple is one of the most popular brands in the world. So is the Apple brand good or bad? Is there any reason to complain about Apple products? Is it worth investing your time and money into an Apple product? We will answer these questions for you and go over some unique features of Apple products.

Apple, a Cupertino-based multinational American company, is one of the world’s most prominent technology companies. Founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976, Apple produces popular digital devices, including iPhones, iPods, Macs, and iPad.

Apple Brand Good or Bad

The Apple brand is one of the most valuable globally; this year, it’s worth an estimated $216 billion.

But what does this have to do with you? Suppose you’re an activist, a mom or dad who tries to instill values and positive thinking in your children, or any other individual who cares about society. In that case, there are many ways that Apple fights for its reputation and protects its brand value.

The Surface Of The Apple Brand

Apple is committed to ethical labor practices by ensuring that workers producing their products are treated fairly and paid a livable wage. They also take care of their environment by providing all materials they use are recycled, renewable, or otherwise environmentally sound. Thus far, they’ve planted two million trees and used clean energy.

Since its start, Apple’s adopted several policies to beat its competitors and maintain its dominance in the technological world. Especially during the last ten years, Apple sold at least a 1.4billion iPhones because of its organizational culture and creative models.

What Makes Apple Good

Apple is considered the world’s #1 creative company, and its innovations are evident in the designs and features of Apple’s products. Its corporate and organizational culture enables the company to ensure creativity among the employees involved in product design and development.

Apple has always been about innovation and a focused company on the future. This is why when it comes to sustainability, Apple has shown leadership in the tech industry by providing products with both recyclable packaging and renewable energy sources.

Solid Products

With their latest release of the MacBook Pro laptop, they have ensured their product will last for generations by designing it so that any part can be replaced easily without buying an entirely new device. Apple produces some of the most valuable brands in today’s market, according to Brand Finance – a global leader in measuring business performance worth.

What Makes The Apple Brand Bad

Apple’s high level of secrecy is an essential feature of a company’s policy, and people working on software are unaware of hardware and vice versa. Surprisingly, senior Apple engineers had no idea about the final product or app until it launched.

Employee Surveillance

Though COVID -19 shifted Apple’s office culture to work at home, employees still work behind secure doors and are barred from disclosing their tasks, even with spouses.

Labor Law Violations

Despite Apple’s successful policies, Apple’s ambition to beat its competitors and protect its brand violates labor laws. According to a report, the working conditions at three Apple-operated Chinese factories violated China’s labor laws.

The report highlighted that around 70,000 people in these Apple products’ manufacturers worked more than 60 hours per week. These unethical conditions were highlighted in 2010 when almost 14 workers killed themselves at Apple’s biggest supplier in China. Some employees were pushed to work 12 hours, while others were forced to work 16 hours without taking breaks to drink water. They were forced to work in coercive conditions and discouraged from refusing overtime and leave.

Apple’s Forced Labor Practices

In September, some congress members accused Apple of weakening an anti-forced labor bill named “The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act.” The bill was put forward to stop forced Uyghur labor in China. If the Senate passes it, it will place responsibilities on American companies to ensure that their supply chain was not engaged in such abuse.

Apple’s Walled Garden

Apple restricts the apps that compete with OS features to maintain its dominance. It faces legal charges worldwide because it uses power to maintain its supremacy over its App store.

Apple Got Sued By Epic Games

In August 2020, Epic Games introduced a direct payment system for Fortnite to avoid Apple’s App Store fees(30%). In response, Apple removed Fortnite from its App Store, preventing the players from downloading the game.

Apple has been fighting to protect its brand for decades. It’s a company that takes no shortcuts and is determined to do everything right. They are committed to making the best products possible and delivering them honestly and transparently about their process. Despite operating as one of the most renowned companies, Apple’s anti-competitive behavior and unethical practices to maintain its power are especially problematic for a leader in the tech industry.
