5. Use a gentle cleanser that doesn’t strip away natural oils or irritate the skin when washing your face; avoid products containing alcohol, benzoyl peroxide, or salicylic acid if you have dry skin types
6. Don’t pick at acne – it can cause scars! Instead, use an exfoliator 2-3 times a week to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, which can clog pores and lead to breakouts; avoid products containing crushed up microbeads – they’re terrible for the environment!
7. Use a hydrating moisturizer that’s safe to use with acne medication (if you are using any) – salicylic acid can cause dryness, benzoyl peroxide may not be compatible with certain ingredients, and Retin-A, Tazorac, Differin all require special moisturizers, so your skin doesn’t get too dried out.
